Twists and turns

Punjab politics is enigmatically funny with a built-in irony in it. This typical political environment is full of rather idiotic twists and turns whereby one can see former chief minister Ch. Pervez Elahi who was the real power behind his party PMLQ becoming president of PTI and former governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar, one of the pioneers of PTI to land in PMLQ. Ch. Sarwar was sacked as the Punjab governor by PTI and his switching parties appears to be an act of revenge but it may also signify the shifting of positions by the quarters that matter. Ch. Sarwar is quite an anomaly in politics as managed to remain member of top political representative line-up both in the UK and Pakistan. Though he is a singularly uncharismatic figure but is shrewd enough to stay afloat in the extremely murky waters of Punjab politics. It is however noted that he lacks significant clout in political circles though he has a knack of keeping himself in the news. Despite his self-serving maneuvering nothing worthwhile has come out of his peregrinations strengthening the impression that he is an opportunist out to derive advantage of the rudderless political environment prevailing in the country.
