Charge-sheeted

Despite being charge-sheeted 77-year old Donald Trump remains the Republican Party’s front runner for 2024 presidential election with substantial voter base. He has pleaded not guilty in a Washington court to conspiring to overturn his 2020 election defeat. During a short arraignment, he spoke softly to confirm his not-guilty plea, name and age and that he was not under the influence of any substances. It was the former president’s third appearance in four months as a criminal defendant though he remained defiant and claimed that cases against him are instances of persecution of a political opponent. He was indicted on four counts, including conspiring to defraud the US by obstructing an official proceeding and conspiring to deprive voters of their right to fair elections. In the 45-page indictment filed by Special Counsel, prosecutors described a sprawling, multistate conspiracy built upon Trump’s repeated false claims that Biden’s victory had been marred by widespread fraud. Trump has earlier been indicted on separate occasions this year including illegally retaining classified documents after leaving the White House and obstructing efforts to retrieve them and falsifying business records to hide hush money payments to a porn star who claimed to have had an affair with Trump years ago.
