Manaksha Memon mentions some outstanding flying objects
Stunning birds – People inhabiting urban locations are mostly deprived of finding exceptional feathered attractions and they do not know the pleasures of witnessing them. However, the world is full of exceptionally stunning birds that are a source of pleasure for the human eye. There are millions of birds on planet Earth of all shapes and sizes though many now face a real battle for survival. Their existence is extremely precious and every attempt should be made to preserve them. It is a treat to lay an eye on some of the most alluring birds whose remind the human race of the beauties of existence.
The Raggiana bird-of-paradise is the only male of this Papua-New-Guinean species sporting vibrant colours and long feathers on its sides, sometimes making it look as though it is wearing a feathery skirt. It is a treat to watch.
The Mandarin duck is a unique bird that really likes to spread its wings. Mandarin ducks can be found mainly in China, Japan, Korea and Russia. Though stunningly beautiful, these birds are retiring individuals often hiding away beneath overhanging branches and it is quite an effort to locate them.
The King vulture are extremely colourful birds with wingspans of up to 5 ½ ft. (1.7 m) and are known to be solitary individuals who live up to 30 years in captivity. King vultures can be found in Mexico and Argentina and have beaks designed for feeding on carcasses.
The Shoebill is arguably the most handsome bird on the planet having an extremely impressive beak. This African species feeds on fish, turtles and… young crocodiles! They can grow up to 4 ft. (1.2 m) tall.
The ’l’iwi is a little bird inhabiting Hawaii but is sadly threatened by invasive feral pigs. Likewise, climate change has increased the number of mosquitoes carrying avian malaria, a disease that seriously affects populations of this species.
The Keel-billed toucan found in central America and is known as a real fun-loving fowl. Groups of up to 20 birds gather on tree branches and play throwing pieces of fruit in the air and catching them or pushing each other with their beaks.
The greater Flamingo
Depending on the species, flamingos are found in the Mediterranean region, in southern Africa, central Asia and Central and South America. The small lamellae in their beaks filter food out of the muddy water they scoop up. One flamingo subspecies – the plastic variety – can be found inhabiting lawns in suburbs across the globe.
