For quite some time he was on the run but finally, he was nabbed. Muhammad Khan Bhatti owed his career to Ch. Pervez Elahi was known to be his very close aide for years. During the latest stint of Ch. Pervez Elahi as CM Punjab Bhatti served as his principal secretary and was known to have a strong clout within provincial official circles. After the sudden departure of Ch. Pervez Elahi’s aide nabbed as CM, and Bhatti was accused of taking a bribe worth Rs.460 million for making postings and transfers.
Bhatti’s name has also come up in an audio clip of an alleged telephone conversation between Ch. Pervez Elahi’s aide nabbed and a lawyer in which the former chief minister was purportedly talking about fixing Bhatti’s case before a sitting apex court judge. When he got wind of an inquiry against him he absconded but was briefly apprehended last month from Matiari in Sindh while he was going to the Sindh High Court for protective bail.
Officials of the Punjab Anti-Corruption department claimed that Bhatti was arrested while attempting to escape the country via the Balochistan-Iran border. Many things in Pakistan simply do not change particularly changes of fortune once people are ousted from power. The Weekender
