Pervez Elahi Nabbed

Pervez Elahi Nabbed – Former CM Punjab Ch Pervez Elahi who currently is president of PTI tried hard to avoid arrest but was finally nabbed by Punjab police from his residence in Lahore. Earlier his dramatic escapades were widely reported during which he played hide-and-seek with the police without realising the indignity of his maneuvers. The Punjab police and Elite Force had cordoned off the locality around his residence, banning exit and entry points to the house. Last month, another team conducted a raid at midnight that continued for hours searching for him yet, despite hectic efforts, the authorities failed to find him. In the process the police conducted many raids at his residence and finally succeeded in getting him when many bullet proof vehicles were seen coming out of his residence and he was found in one of them. He resisted arrest and refused to open door of the vehicle compelling the law-enforcers to break the side mirror of his vehicle. Various corruption cases have been registered against him accusing him of receiving kickbacks for awarding several government development projects during his tenure in office. Earlier, a special judge of an anti-corruption court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for him ordering authorities to produce him by 2 June. The Weekender
