It has been a few months since the dust settled in Musical Chairs Again In Balochistan with the removal of the CM Jam Kamal but daggers now are drawn against the current incumbent Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo who is otherwise rated as a lightweight. This development is more reflective of the change in stance of the quarters whose proxy Bizenjo is. Interestingly, they are the same quarters who once held Jam Kamal dear. This sudden turnaround is quite surprising as Bizenjo was thought to be amenable to sign on the dotted line and Jam Kamal has ditched the PMLN. So, on both counts the impending change looks difficult to fathom as it will not substantially alter the political status quo in Balochistan. It is, however, sickening to note the fickle-minded attitude exhibited by the string-pullers who appear to be equally mixed-up that certainly does not augur well for the province. The more worrying aspect is the apathy of the political leadership of the province that resolutely refuses to see beyond its nose. Balochistan certainly deserves better people to run the affairs of the largest province in the country but this eventuality appears quite far-fetched at the moment. TW
