It was bound to happen as Narendra Modi’s egotism and fascist tendencies know no bounds. He could not stomach the BBC documentary ‘India: The Modi Question’ and his government got the offices of Modi’s crackdown on BBC in India raided by the income tax department. This extreme measure was resorted to after the ban imposed by Modi’s crackdown on BBC government on the documentary proved ineffective due to the robust presence of social media.
Indian government detained students in New Delhi after stopping the screening of the documentary but students at Delhi University followed several campuses around the country in staging a broadcast, defying government efforts to stop its spread by blocking its publication on social media. Police swarmed the university after student groups supportive of Modi’s ruling party objected to the screening by seizing laptops and banning gatherings of more than four persons at a place.
