Hottest Day Record Broken Again

Hottest Day Record Broken Again – The world recorded its hottest day ever on Thursday, breaking previous highs set on Monday and Tuesday as global average temperatures continue to climb. The global average temperature hit 17.23 degrees Celsius and the record comes days after intense heatwaves in many parts of the world kept on taking human lives. It was mentioned that such records are the predictable consequence of a short-term El Niño temperature boost coming on top of the long-term global warming trend due to mankind’s greenhouse gas emissions. The El Nino weather pattern emerged this year, bringing warm sea surface temperatures in the eastern and central Pacific Ocean. After the previous daily high from August 2016 was first broken on Monday, several weather scientists predicted more record-setting days this year. They warn that more hot days are in the offing and the summer season may get longer than usual. Such hot seasons are particularly difficult for the developing world to negotiate as it faces crucial power shortages making people to suffer intense heat without having simple electrical gadgets to provide some relief. The soaring temperatures call for hectic actions to be taken to ameliorate the situation before much more harm is done. The Weekender
