An Oscar or a Golden Globe

Nida Faraz looks at the disappointment faced by seasoned stars

An Oscar or a Golden Globe – Oscars are anxiously awaited by the Cineworld. It is probably the right time to look at some of the prominent male and female performers whom the ultimate recognition bestowed by an Oscar or a Golden Globe has consistently evaded. There is hardly any doubt about the stellar performance of these stars on the silver screen but due to one reason or another they have not been able to haul in the biggest prizes in world of entertainment. Hopefully one day they will able to win these awards and prove their worth.

Harrison Ford is the star of hit franchises like ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Indiana Jones,’ but Harrison Ford has never won an Oscar or Golden Globe.

Will Smith has scored five Golden Globe nominations over the years but has never been victorious around award season.

Scarlett Johansson is an A-List name but she has never been lucky around award season. She has been nominated for five Golden Globes over the years.

Ben Stiller is not just a comedy actor, but the star of drama films like ‘Greenberg’ and ‘The Meyerowitz Stories.’ He is yet to be awarded for his acting efforts however.

Another A-lister Bradley Cooper has not won an Oscar or a Golden Globe, though he has been nominated for both on numerous occasions.

The British actor Ralph Fiennes has received many nominations for his performances in ‘Schindler’s List,’ ‘The English Patient,’ and ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ but has never been awarded the top prizes.

Highly acclaimed natural actor John Malkovich has been nominated for two Oscars, for his performances in ‘Places in the Heart’ and ‘In the Line of Fire’ but has failed to attract an Oscar or a Golden Globe trophy.

Over the course of more than 20 years, Helena Bonham Carter has received eight Golden Globe nominations. However, she has never won.

Liam Neeson received high praise and nominations for his performance in ‘Schindler’s List,’ but the Irish actor did not manage to win these coveted awards.

A surprising omission, Cameron Diaz has been nominated for four Golden Globes but has failed short of winning the ultimate trophy. The Weekender
