Hina in Kabul

It was an irony of sorts to see Hina Rabbani Khar Aparleying with hard-line clerics in Kabul. In a way it was an interesting move that must have become quite Aa test for the Hina in Kabul regime that has so far defied all international pressure to give appropriate recognition to women, to agree to treat Ms Khar on equal footing coming for resolving issues that they consider belonging exclusively to male domain. The move is also intriguing from the angle that she was preferred over the fully-fledged foreign minister probably to gauge the reaction of the Afghan Taliban and having passed the test they may soften their hitherto ultra conservatism. In any case Ms Khar’s sojourn is groundbreaking as it has become imperative to parley with the Kabul regime as matters have become untenable within Pakistan with reference to rising militancy in areas bordering Afghanistan and the need to sort the matter out bilaterally is dire as it is abjectly manifest that the authorities in Kabul exercise considerable influence with the Pakistani militants and are considered potent enough to force them to refrain from carrying out violence particularly after the TTP has renounced the ceasefire agreement with Pakistani border management agencies.
