Harassment At Airports

Harassment At Airports – Instances of harassment inside the airports are a well-known difficulty experienced by passengers throughout the country. No less an authority than director general of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has criticised Customs, Airport Security Force (ASF) and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and accused them of harassing passengers at airports. He alleged that they continue to collect money by harassing passengers at Customs, ASF and ANF, taking passengers to the side, sending them to jail and threatening to miss flights. He pointed out that no one finds any uniformed armed personnel at any airport in the world and that it looks like an aggressive atmosphere that is unheard of elsewhere reminding people of being held up in a place of confinement. It was also mentioned that how an expatriate will feel when he lands and finds four personnel standing in different uniforms in front of him. This allegation speaks volumes about the lack of coordination among agencies at airports and pointed out impolite attitudes with passengers. This situation flies in the face of tall governmental claims of providing adequate conditions for encouraging tourism and facilitating visitors who are already visiting the country. The reality is certainly the opposite of what is claimed. The Weekender
