Embassy attacked

In a serious diplomatic incident the Embassy attacked of Pakistan in Kabul was attacked in what is termed as crucial breach of security provided to the diplomatic personnel by the Kabul regime. The embassy came under fire from a lone gunman holed up in a nearby building whose target was the Pakistani Chargé d’Affaires to Afghanistan who remained unhurt though the security guard was critically injured while protecting the head of the mission. It is widely recognised that the Kabul regime has a tenuous hold on Afghanistan and is still grappling with the uncertain security situation in the country. Since its takeover of the country, there has been a marked escalation in cross-border attacks in Pakistan by terrorist groups such as TTP tacitly supported by the Kabul regime. Moreover, the incidence of border clashes between security personnel on both sides has also increased substantially causing serious worry for Pakistani policy makers. In such circumstances the dastardly attack on the Pakistani embassy is an ominous sign of deteriorating ties between both the neighbours and may become a serious cause of concern. In wake of the current situation it is expected that it may be impressed upon the Kabul regime to ensure that the Pakistani diplomatic personnel stationed in Afghanistan are kept safe from any harm.
