Echoes of Dam Fund again

The Echoes of Dam Fund again & Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly ordered a fact-finding probe into alleged irregularities in the much-trumpeted Dam Construction Fund lunched by the former Chief justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar who rigorously pursued the matter undertaking many foreign tours to solicit money from overseas Pakistanis. In the meeting members of PAC raised the issue of Mohmand Dam and SC Dam Fund. Demanding a probe into the dam fund, one member said that Rs.9 billion were collected in donations for the Mohmand dam, while advertisements worth Rs.13 billion were issued. He asked whether there is any such country in the world where a dam has been built with donations, and if not, then the perpetrators of such unworkable proposal should be brought for questioning. The Echoes of Dam Fund again & PAC ordered the Ministry of Water Resources to investigate the matter with a view to find out how much money was spent on advertisements and how many facilities traveled abroad through the dam fund. The PAC president added that former CJP, Justice Retired Saqib Nisar, would be summoned to the PAC if financial irregularities are found. TW
