Defenceless Outlook

Defenceless Outlook – It was indeed disgusting to witness hearing Khawaja Asif unabashedly adhering to his misogynistic views despite being roundly criticised for doing so earlier. Even more despicable was his claim that while referring to his female colleagues as characterless and filth, there was no gendered undertone to his comments, a claim that is not only hollow but reflects a decadent mindset. Khawaja Asif is known for passing sexist remarks in the parliament and then trying to justify them on puerile pretexts. Intriguingly enough he had the temerity of advising that as proponents of gender equality women should develop thicker skin against such remarks because, when faced with similar attacks, men are not seen protesting. This mindless argument speaks volumes about his utter disregard for the sensitivity of the matter and represents a wantonly narrow-minded justification relied on by a category of biased males when they are called out for their misogyny. Khawaja Asif’s repeated diatribe about women brings to fore an insecure neurotic mindset of a person devoid of empathy for his fellow human beings who because of their sex endure prejudicial societal norms stacked against them since long whereby the male segment of the population is unwilling to accord them equal social status.
