Chinese Manufacture Airliner – Civil aviation manufacturing was confined to the Western world and they practically monopolised it. The Western world not only had the necessary wherewithal but has also acquired technical superiority facilitating their monopoly of super-heavy manufacturing. In this backdrop it is quite an achievement for the Chinese to unveil domestically manufactured passenger jet that made its commercial flight successfully. The Chinese expectations are that their airliner, C919 that took decades to build will challenge foreign models like the Boeing 737 MAX and the Airbus A320 though many of its parts are sourced from abroad. The first indigenously-manufactured jetliner with mass commercial potential would also cut the country’s reliance on foreign technology as Chinese ties with the West deteriorate. China has invested heavily in the production of the indigenous jetliner as it seeks to become self-sufficient in key technologies. The narrow-body aircraft that took-off from Shanghai airport carrying 130 passengers is manufactured by the state-owned Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) and will operate on China Eastern regular route between Shanghai and the southwestern city of Chengdu. COMAC announced that it taken around 1,200 orders for the C919 and planned to increase annual production capacity to 150 models within five years. The Weekender
